South-East Must Be Allowed To Rule – Peter Obi
Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and a presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party platform, has argued that the country’s South-East region should be permitted to produce the country’s next President.
Obi announced this at the PDP secretariat in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during a meeting with delegates and other party leaders.
He stated that a President of Igbo descent must be permitted to run the country for the purposes of equity, justice, and respect.
FG Not Handing Over Ajaokuta Steel To British Firm – Minister
Olamilekan Adegbite, the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, has denied media allegations that the Federal Government is planning to transfer over the Ajaokuta Steel Plant to a British corporation.
He went on to say that a Nigerian company that is a partner of a British company has offered to conduct a free technical assessment of the steel plan.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the ministry on Monday.
APC Begin Protest In Adamawa
The opposition All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State has rejected the local government election result announced by the state independent commission which returned the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winners in all the 21 local government areas of the state.
In the Saturday council votes, the PDP swept all chairperson seats across the 21 LGAs, according to ADSIEC Chairman Isa Shettima, who announced the results on Sunday.
But the APC rejected the outcome of the poll, describing it as grand theft.
Osinbajo Will Build On Buhari’s Gains – Aide
On Monday, Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity said President Muhammadu Buhari‘s administration has made commendable strides in the areas of infrastructure, ease of doing business, and security.
Akande made this assertion in an interview on “Arise News Night” on Monday in Abuja.
According to him, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo’s bid for the country’s top office is meant to consolidate the gains made in the past seven years.
