Senator Smart Adeyemi of the Kogi West Senatorial District has lost his ambition to return to the National Assembly for a fourth term.

Hon. Sunday Karimi defeated Smart Adeyemi, who ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Connectley Naija News reports that Hon. Karimi defeated the three-time Senator and three other aspirants in the APC’s senatorial primary election held in Kabba on Saturday to become the party’s flagbearer for the Kogi West Senatorial District.

Hon. Karimi defeated the three-time Senator and three other aspirants in the APC’s senatorial primary election held in Kabba on Saturday to become the party’s flagbearer for the Kogi West Senatorial District.

Connectley Naija News recalls that in the House of Representatives, Hon. Karimi represented the Yagba Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2016.

Hon. Sunday Karimi received 288 votes at the end of the election, while the runner-up, Muyiwa Aina had 73 votes.

Senator Smart Adeyemi had 43 votes, while only one vote was cast for Doyin Eshanumi, the lone woman in the race. Isah Abdulkareem received nine votes, six of which were invalid.

Meanwhile, Abubakar Ohere won the APC ticket for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.

With 260 votes, he defeated Hajia Ramatu Attah (13 votes) and Sheriff Dalhatu (11 votes).
