To commemorate the 2022 Easter celebration, the federal government has scheduled Friday, April 15, and Monday, April 18, as public holidays, according to a statement from the interior ministry.
Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior, who made the announcement on behalf of the federal government, congratulated Christians and Nigerians at home and abroad on this year’s Easter celebrations.
He encouraged Christians to imitate Jesus Christ’s traits and behaviors, such as sacrifice, unity, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace, and patience, as exhibited by His ministry on earth.
In a statement signed by Shuaib Belgore, the ministry’s permanent secretary, Aregbesola urged Christians and all Nigerians to use this year’s Easter Celebration to pray for an end to the security crisis plaguing the country.
He reassured Nigerians that the federal government will leave no stone unturned to ensure that recent attacks by unsavory elements on highways, airports, and railways are put to an end as soon as possible.
In his word:
“Security is everybody’s business. I, therefore, urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness at this critical time in the history of our country, by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry,”
“There will surely be light at the end of the tunnel,”
