After the international break, the English Premier League was back to action this afternoon. It was the blues at home welcomed west Bromwich Albion. Unfortunately, it’s not blue afternoon, Connectley News Reports.
Match: Chelsea 2-5 West Brom
Scorers: Pulisic 28′, Mount 69′; Pereira 45+2, 45+4, Robinson 63′, 90+1, Diagne 67′
West Brom ended Thomas Tuchel’s unbeaten start as Chelsea manager by pulling off a stunning 5-2 victory at Stamford Bridge.
Christian Pulisic had given the Blues the lead when he tapped in the rebound to Marcos Alonso’s free kick striking the post before Thiago Silva was sent off for a reckless challenge on Okay Yokuslu.
The Baggies took advantage of that extra man with Matheus Pereira scoring two goals in first half stoppage time – firstly lobbing Edouard Mendy before placing a smart left-footed finish into the bottom corner.
The visitors then stormed into a 4-1 lead with Callum Robinson producing a side-footed volley before Mbaye Diagne finished off an incisive counter attack.
Mason Mount tapped home in the 69th minute to give Chelsea hope but Robinson was on hand to chip Mendy for his second in stoppage time to inflict a first defeat for Tuchel in his 15 games in charge.
West Brom remain in 19th but are now seven points adrift after sparking new life into their hopes of staying up.
