Official: Florent Balmont ends his football career as he announces his retirement

One of the veterans of France League championship bows out on Thursday. In the wake of the announcement by the LFP of the end of the season and the final classification of the championship, Florent Balmont thus announced that he had finished his football career.

The 40-year-old midfielder revealed in his training club at Olympique Lyonnais, then exploded on the Nice side before experiencing the great years of Lille, with in particular the title of champion of France in 2011.

After eight years in the North, he joined Dijon in 2016, participating each year in the maintenance of the Dijon club. After 18 seasons at the highest and more than 500 professional games, Florent Balmont has bowed out.

I wanted to thank all the clubs where I had the chance to evolve: OL, TFC, OGCN, LOSC and DFCO, all my coaches and their staffs, all the people and supporters that I have been able to meet within the clubs, my teammates including some who have become real friends, my family and especially my wife, my children, my parents and my sisters who have always supported me, encouraged me and I wanted to say a big Thanks I love you” Florent Balmont, who is now a football retiree, said on his Instagram account.
