Manchester City take an option for a qualification into semi-finals after their victory, 2-1 against Dortmund in the quarter-final first leg on Tuesday night. Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Erling Haaland have been noticed, to their advantage or not.
Kevin De Bruyne: 7/10
He is the captain of Manchester City and a captain must take responsibility. On his goal (18th), the Belgian is at the origin of the action, in the middle of the field: he erases a Bavarian and adjusts a deep pass on the left side. He found himself a few seconds later at the conclusion, on a cross from Riyad Mahrez on the right wing. “KDB” delivered several caviars and could even give an assist but Phil Foden failed to make the break (64th). Phil Foden: 7/10
He offered victory to his team thanks to his goal at the very end of the match (90th). The young Englishman, rather interesting and good in the game especially in the second half, harvested a lot in front of goal before finally succeeding in scoring. He could have been one of those responsible for a poor performance. But all’s well that ended well for number 47.
Marco Reus: 6/10
And yes, a captain must take responsibility. Even if he was invisible almost throughout the game, the German scored this precious away goal at the Etihad (84th), this famous goal which could count twice. Thanks to him, BVB can still hope for something in the second leg.
👎 The Flops
BVB defense: 5/10
They were solid and prevented the Citizens from making the break several times. But as football connoisseurs say so well: “A football match lasts 90 minutes ”.
Erling Haaland: 4.5 / 10
It might be a bit harsh for the Norwegian cyborg. But this evening he did not live up to expectation. In the first period it is almost nonexistent. And at the start of the second, he missed his duel against Ederson and failed to equalize.
Is this a good year for the Citizens? For now, Connectley News do not yet know … the two teams will face each other again next Wednesday (April 14), in Germany, for the second leg. You can also check Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool: Tops and Flops
