Late President Yar’Adua’s Son, Aminu Yar’Adua Remanded in Prison

The son of a former Nigerian president, Aminu Yar’Adua, has gotten himself into serious troubles in Yola.

Aminu is to remain in Yola prison till Thursday, August 19, for allegedly killing four persons by reckless driving. The incident which took place on Wednesday, June 23, was brought before a magistrate court as a case on Thursday, August 5.

The magistrate court in Adamawa’s capital, Yola, remanded Aminu Yar’Adua, the 36-year-old son of a former Nigerian president, Musa Yar’Adua, in prison on Thursday, August 5.

Aminu, a student at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) Yola, received this harsh punishment after his vehicle was involved in a car accident that killed four people, according to PM News.

According to a police First Information Report (FIR) filed in court by the prosecutor, Inspector Zakka Musa, Aminu’s car collided with six people on the Yola bye-pass on Wednesday, June 23, according to Daily Nigerian.

According to the FIR:

”Aisha Umar (30), Aisha Mamadu (32), Suleiman Abubakar(2), and Jummai Abubakar (30) were killed in the accident, while Rejoice Annu (28) and Hajara Aliyu (27) were injured.”

Inspector Musa informed the magistrate, Jummai Ibrahim, that the families of the late Aisha Umar, Suleiman Abubakar, and Jummai Abubakar had sought N15 million in compensation from Aminu.

On the prosecutor’s request, Ibrahim adjourned the case until Thursday, August 19, when the defendant denied committing the alleged crime.

As a result, the judge ordered that the late president’s son be held in custody until the next scheduled hearing.
