The King's Cup quarter-finals produced four surprises! Winner of Real Madrid, at the Santiago Bernabeu, after a crazy match (3-4), Real Sociedad won the right to join the last four, along with another Basque club: Bilbao.
The Leones eliminated Barça last night thanks to a goal by Iñaki Williams in stoppage time (1-0). Before that, the title holder Valencia had suffered the law of Granada (2-1).
And to top it all, after eliminating Vigo and Seville, Mirandés, D2's smallest budget, offered himself the scalp of Villarreal (4-2) to join the semi-finals, repeating his feat of 2012 (at the club was in D3).
Today, at the headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation, the semi-finals were drawn. Drawn first, Real Sociedad will receive the CD Mirandés in Anoeta, in the first leg, before moving to Miranda de Ebro, city of the Province of Burgos in the second leg.
The other semi-final will pit Bilbao in Granada, with a first leg in San Mamés. If the previous rounds had been knockout, the four survivors will compete in round-trip matches on Wednesday February 12 and March 4.
The final will take place on April 18, at the Cartuja stadium in Seville.
