UEFA Champions League was back to action yesterday for the rounds of 8 with two matches. Manchester City trashed Borussia Dortmund at Etihad 2-1 and Real Madrid offered Liverpool an unfair welcome 3-1.
On Wednesday night, Champions League quarter-finals continued with two more first legs. But Porto seemed not capable of hosting the blues as they were defeated with 2-0, Connectley News Reports.
Chelsea have one foot in the semi-finals after a disciplined display against Porto. Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell responsible for the Blues winning on Wednesday night.
After an evenly matched opening period, it was Thomas Tuchel’s side who took the lead when Mason Mount spun away from Chancel Mbemba before firing low across the goalkeeper into the far corner.
Porto pressed for an equaliser in the second half, but it was Chelsea who went closest to adding to the scoreline, when substitute Christian Pulisic rattled the woodwork in the 83rd minute.
And moments later the Blues did get a second away goal. It was Ben Chilwell who capitalised on a defensive error before rounding the goalkeeper to score.
