Mesut Özil definitely no longer seems to smell of sanctity within the Arsenal squad.
Announced on the departure to the four corners of Europe for several weeks now, if not several months, the German attacking midfielder whose contract ends next summer finally broke the silence today through a interview with The Athletic.
If the London management said they were ready to pay to facilitate the exit of the player, Mesut Ozil this morning refutes any idea of departure.
“My position is clear. I am here until the last day of my contract and I will give everything I have for this club. Situations like these will never break me, they just make me stronger. I have shown in the past that I can come back to the team and I will show it again,” said the Mesut Ozil, who is obviously in no hurry to leave.
“I’ll decide when I leave, not the others. I did not sign for two or three years, I signed for four years and that should be respected by all” he said before making the hires of his club and his city.
“Things have obviously been tough, but I love Arsenal, I love working there, I love the people at the club, the real people, the ones I’ve been with for a long time and I love London, it’s my home (…) When a player wants to leave and the club says no, the player must accept it unless they find a solution together. So when a club wants a player to leave and the player says no, the club must accept it unless a solution can be found. I don’t want to leave, so that’s it.” Mesut Ozil Added.
