Antonio Rudiger, a Chelsea defender, is set to earn a large salary after apparently agreeing to join Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Rudiger’s impending departure from Chelsea was first reported over the weekend, with Thomas Tuchel, the club’s manager, all but confirming the German’s departure.
Tuchel revealed that the club’s attempts to guarantee Rudiger’s future fell flat after the Blues’ 1-0 win against West Ham United.
Connectley Naija News recalls that the former AS Roma star has been in contract talks with his Chelsea managers for months about his present situation.
However, with the West London club still looking for a new owner following Roman Abramovich’s suspension, talks about extending Rudiger’s contract have halted.
Real Madrid are said to have jumped in and persuaded the Germany international to leave the Pensioners for a move to La Liga, with his future with the Blues unknown.
According to The Sun Newspaper, the 29-year-old would earn over £60 million from his move to Real Madrid.
The foreign Newspaper added that the center-back would sign a hefty four-year contract for around £300,000 per week.
The sum is thought to be significantly larger than Chelsea’s offer for the versatile defender to extend his contract. At Stamford Bridge, Rudiger is currently paid £100,000 a week.
