The eight Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) nominees are officially being announced, kick off the award’s new season, Naija News 247 gathered.

On Saturday, March 19, there were nominees across 33 award categories for the event hosted by Adesua Etomi and Daniel Etim-Effiong.

Izu Ojukwu’s historical drama ‘Amina‘ has been nominated 12 times in major categories including the “Best Overall Movie”.

Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ by Funke Akindele and JJC Skillz earned nine nominations while Ramsey Nouah’s ‘Rattlesnake: The Ahanna story scooped 10 nominations.

This year’s award is slated to take place on May 14 before an eight-day event preceding the main event.
